GOM strength?

If the storm came in at Miami and crossed into the Gulf wouldn't the strenght be greatly lowered? It doesn't seem that it would be over water long enough to restrenghten alot before it reached land again (for example if it came into Mobile). I know this is very doubtful, but not impossible. The weather channal has the cone close to us, but never mentions a word about what will happen if the storm moves our way. Since they are not going to mention us I wish they would just move that projection away.

Hopefully, this senerio will not happen but, remember how hot the GOM waters are. Hurricanes have a tendency to explode in power in a VERY short period of time. Think of Opal in 95.

Think of Camille in 1969. She exploded in the Gulf. Don't mess with this chick, she's made about something and she clearly cant make up her mind.
