forecasting where its going to make landfall is up in the air right now...picking a 6 hour window and making a claim that anyone knows if it hits at high or low tide is ludacrisp.

Everyone is aware that landfall is likely to be on Saturday afternoon and subject to change but at current predictions….just thought I should make everyone aware of the tides issues as it hadn’t been mentioned before. There are high tides on Saturday afternoon all along the predicted cone of the hurricane path…so another thing to bear in mind when it comes to storm surge!

there isnt a real forecaster on this planet who would bet on it hitting closer to high tide or low tide....its a coin flip.

Thanks for the post Florida_brit on the tide times. You are right not something I thought about. Now at least when it does hit we will have some idea of where the tides are at.

Many models don't have landfall till Sunday night now.

Nothing is certain in hurricane prediction....until it it hits! And that is one fact people can be right about! Unless people want to argue this point to?

The hurricane could still become a fish according to some models!

Awareness of the tides issues has been raised....at the very least....
