evacuation overhaul

I believe the evac plan needs to be overhauled. It is ridiculous to evac the whole east coast. Suggestion evac only manufactured homeowners first then establish a 100 mile zone for a 4 hrs evac. The fear factor the mass media has tried to create did not work in this area. I did a quick pole. About half of the neighborhood has evacuated here. Good luck you all.

Great plan if there were no forecasting error. Under your plan though it is inevitable that the two day forecast landfall of a category 4 or 5 hurricane will miss by 125 miles and hundreds will die.

Four hours? How many people live in a 100 mile area? How are you gonna get them out in 4 hours? In case you hvent checked, all highways have been at a standstill for 2 days. How many would die, stuck in traffic?

It never ceases to amaze me how people who do not and never have done your job instantly become an expert when an emergency comes up. If it sounds harsh for me to say that, it is. I work for emergency services and I am tired of all of the complaining and whining from everyone. We have been hearing it since 13 August with Charley. Get over it. We have been working from 10 to 24 hour days since 13 August. Everyone here is using all of the experience and knowledge we have to keep death to a minimum, and people complain about inconvenience. If we are wrong, it is an inconvenience. If we don't order evacuations and we are wrong, people die. Which is more important?

We even had people calling 911 to camplain about no air conditioning and asking to go to the hospital so they could cool off in the ER.
