617 AM EDT SAT SEP 4 2004

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MIAMI HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WARNING FOR...
EASTERN GLADES COUNTY IN SOUTH FLORIDA.

* UNTIL 700 AM EDT

* AT 617 AM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO 21 MILES
NORTHEAST OF LAKEPORT...MOVING SOUTHWEST AT 50 MPH.

* THE STORM WILL AFFECT...
BUCKHEAD RIDGE BY 620 AM EDT.
BRIGHTON SEMINOLE RESERVATION BY 630 AM EDT.
LAKEPORT BY 640 AM EDT.
MOORE HAVEN BY 650 AM EDT.

IF YOU ARE NEAR THE PATH OF A TORNADO...SEEK SHELTER IN A STURDY
BUILDING ON THE LOWEST FLOOR...AWAY FROM OUTSIDE WALLS AND WINDOWS.
GET UNDER A WORKBENCH OR OTHER PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. USE
BLANKETS OR PILLOWS TO COVER YOUR BODY AND STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS.

REPORT SEVERE WEATHER OR DAMAGE TO THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY
OR YOUR COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT. THEY WILL RELAY YOUR REPORT TO

Part of that band looks like it might rotate into the Miami area.

And unfortunately probably more tornados to come, it seems there was more tornado damage before Hugo’s eye went over
us, the trees were just twisted off at the tops, then when the eye went completely over and the wind started again, the other trees were uprooted....someone had told me that was how FEMA assessed
the damage as far as tornados.
