says the GOM ridge is moving west.
That would explain the westward jog, and that jog, may have been enough for Frances to get a sip of warm Gulfstream.
If the ridge moves fast enough, Frances won't be able to sit at the Gulfstream Tiki Bar for long, and we'll get this over with!

postion on vortex message, when they say on the TV the position is 26.9 west and 79.3 west. why the discrepancy? or is it a discrepancy?

Its not a discrepancy. Vortex goes in minutes, seconds of latitude and longitude, whereas NHC goes by 10ths of a degree.
