Don Germaise in Melbourne (reporter from Channel 11 out of Tampa and veteran Charley reporter):
"nowhere near Charley, but it's been so long, since noon....."
He's watching a roof come off of a house. Says there have been lots of intense winds building and plenty of pieces of aluminim siding with sharp edges flying aroudn as the storm builds into his location.
Juno Beach - police have been out assisting during calm of the eiye..not much structural damage........powerlines and trees uprooted, signs down
Stuart - emergency workers on lockdown. House fire they could not attend to. Two house burned. No word on casualties or whether the homes were occupied.
Osceola --- Lake Taho - Very large waves on the lake
P.S. -- Winds continuing to pick up in south Lakeland. We've had our first power flicker of the storm event. Thirty minutes ago I could have rowed the canoe safely out on the lake. Not so now.
"Winds no where near Charley BUT...."
