Cantore got knocked down...

#1 Postby birdwomn » Sun Sep 05, 2004 9:01 am

well almost, TWC cut away before we got to see if he managed to stay upright.

As dangerous as it is, it was almost as funny as the Seidel/Roker incident yesterday.

What's unbelievable is the gall they have when they talk about people who are walking around in the storm and insinuating they are idiots, and there they are acting like idiots standing in the storm.

I didn't see Jim's video. Both he and Stephanie Abrahms need to get their butts inside!

That was a funny video of Mike and Al.

They are reporters though - not that they've been trained to stand outside in 100mph+ winds, but they are demonstrating WHY people should be indoors.

I think it's so funny now that they all feel they need to stand outside. It's not like a shot out a window at blowing trees, signs and buildings couldn't accomplish the same thing.

After I evacuated for Charley, I wasn't staying in a place that had Cable. Did they all stand outside in Cat 4 winds, too?

I just think that it sets a bad example when they get out there joking around and laughing and leaning back in the wind.

I saw a lady reporting live and she was trying to keep standing while in the background you could see a downed palm tree. Reporters are morons

I agree. That makes it look like fun, when it is actually very dangerous.

I think that TWC has done well with the coverage. I have seen many reporters bending in the wind during the coverage of Hurricane Frances not just those from TWC. The reporters and their camera crews put their lives in danger to bring us live shots.

For a lot of reporters this isn't a fun or rewarding reassignment. But for someone like Cantore this is the ultimate assignment.

Sorry if posted elsewhere, but just saw footage of a Fox affiliate reporter from last night.... a palm tree fell over and landed about 12-18 inches behind him... in fact, may have glanced off him!! He was okay.

The Seidel/Al Roker report was funny. It was perhaps even funnier when Seidel was like "I'm glad you showered this morning" HAHAHA

At least there's some silver lining to covering a dangerous storm system.

Jim

A funny comic about reporters standing outside during Isabel- out of respect for the website it's a link to the specific comic- but I won't post it as an image here. :)

You can all thank Dan Rather for these types of shots. He came to the attention of Network brass at CBS because of his reports on Carla in 1961. He was the first REALITY TV star and every network since thinks they have an obligation to be just as foolish.
