Ivan the Terrible??

#1 Postby Valkhorn » Sun Sep 05, 2004 3:26 pm

Well, Ivan is a pretty strong hurricane already, so I'm wondering. Do you guys think this will be a bad system? We already know it'll clock the Lesser Antilles, and after that it's literally up in the air.

I think this has a very bad potential here.

What do you guys think?

Any hurricane in the Caribbean is a bad situation.

It'll clock the Carribean as a cat.5,then make landfall somewhere along the US. If its S. FL or the Gulf, probably as a strong cat4 or weak cat 5

OFFICIALLY, only 2 cat. 5 hurricanes have hit the mainland United States. Therefore, I seriously doubt this one will maintain that strength. (I say 'officially' because Andrew was later recorded to be a cat. 5 at landfall.) Either way, the chances are quite slim.

What I do know is - Flordia had better start praying now.

I'm much more concerned about those little islands right now. A lot of them haven't experienced a major hurricane(much less a strong Category 4) in decades. :(

Caution: This is gallows humor but since I have recently been through Charley and Today. Frances I am taking the privilege. I pointed out to my dh that Charley and Frances tracks left a big X on Florida to point Ivan in the direction to hit. I am being funny but I am also getting a bit weary of shopping for soup and crackers as well.

Why would it matter when it was classified a Cat5? Make it 3.

I coined the use of the historic figure Ivan "The Terrible" on August 30th! Proof:
