After the storm....SNAKES!!
The rain and flooding are making the snakes look for higher ground - one chose inside my pool's screen room (thankfully it was non-poisonous - just a black snake) and another one was perched at the end of my driveway (copperhead - very poisonous and very mean!).
I do NOT like snakes!
With the creek still rising, I think they'll get worse before they get better.
Ugh!

Have there been any alligator stories? I promised my spouse an alligator story would emerge eventually, back around the time Charley hit.
All I saw was a picture of Ft. Myers beach residents towing a beached manatee back to water, down the main street, on a big piece of board. But I know there MUST be alligator stories...

We went through this after Charley. My son was in his bathroom and said there was a snake in there with him .he's always kidding me so I didn't believe him. So, I went to see and sure enough there it was! Just a wee-little- black snake about the size of a worm. Well, we got rid of that one and then the next night, I went to get into the shower and there was one in my shower! My husband tried ot catch it, but it went back down the drain. So, later, it came back, in my shower again! Hubby managed to get it and flush it...But, it was very creepy! I'm from Ohio...and we don't see snakes that much up there!

During Betsy, in 1965, in New Orleans, there is video of hundreds of mocassins swimming all around in the streets, between people's legs in waste high boots....all over the place. It is horrifying to see so many snakes in these videos. I hate snakes, as well, but, they get very disturbed during high water and have no where to go..they just swim around!

I am in Hoke Co., NC and due to all of this rain, I suppose, we have had two of these nasty buggers in our yard. I abhor snakes but cottonmouths are the worst of them all. I have never seen so many snakes out and about in my life and I have lived here all of my life. I think I would rather deal with a gator than a cottonmouth. I think.
