We used to "take care" of a lady across the street until she passed away two years ago. So many people have become so insulated and dont even know who their neighbors are. Wouldnt it be a grand idea to "adopt" an elederly person to assist in times like this?
In the Philippines, when a typhoon was coming, if you lived on base, you were sometimes assigned to go to someone else's home for safety. There were often 4 families in one house (they were pretty big houses, but still, you'd better like each other)
