How reliable are past Hurricane tracks?

#1 Postby Stormcenter » Wed Sep 08, 2004 8:51 am

I know alot of people will post past tracks of
hurricanes let's say before the 1960's to
give an example of possible paths of future
storms. I always wonder just how reliable these tracks are when we didn't have satellites to track them with like we do today?
I know they used ship reports but how reliable can those be?
