What do I tell friend about to go to Ft. Laud. for vacay?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

What do I tell friend about to go to Ft. Laud. for vacay?

I work with a woman who is insisting that she and her family are leaving on Saturday for a week in their Ft. Lauderdale timeshare. Says she has been evacuated from the timeshare before and they still had a great tme. I think she is crazy to take the chance, but I also think it is incredibly inconsiderate to burden an already extremely taxed system in FL right now. On the other hand, tourism drives the economy. So, what are your opinions? Should I continue to try to convince her to cancel the trip? Do you think the airports will be in operation on Saturday? Are tourists arriving this week?

By Saturday we should have a much better idea as to whether or not this will go up west or east of the Peninsula.

I have to say, thats brave for someone to purposely go in an area that will likely feel something from ivan, if the paths prove true. Fun during and evacuation...oh yeah nothing like cafeteria bologna sandwiches and sleeping on a gym floor with 500 of your closest friends....lets hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Your friend sounds like an adventure lover who enjoys life.
Tell her to go and have fun.
Might rain Sunday-Monday but she'll be able to get a tan between the clouds no doubt
