Standards? What Standards?
It's annoying to me that various reports use various different systems of measurement, requiring constant conversions. Even the NHC ones change from this to that seemingly randomly...sometimes they'll do a conversion for you, sometimes not. For example, we have pressures measures in inches and millibars (and hPa). Wind speed measured in mph, km/h, and kts (and distance in mi, km, and nautical miles). Temperatures in mostly Centigrade but sometimes Fahrenheit. Times measured from UTC, EDT, AST, "Z", as well as occasionally local times. Strength in both Dvorak/"T" numbers and S-S #s. Quadrants referred as relative to the current direction of the storm (which I think is correct) and in absolute terms (which I think is a mistake). It's be nice if they'd standardize everything on one system or another. I don't care what it is, use furlongs and imperial quarts if you want, just pick one! Certainly come measurements have no direct equivalents and maybe should be kept separate, but they should standardize all the ones they can.
