URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 123
STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
630 PM CDT TUE APR 15 2003

THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS
WESTERN AND NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA

EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 630 PM UNTIL 1100
PM CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS
TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 80 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST
OF A LINE FROM 35 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF CLINTON OKLAHOMA TO 45
MILES NORTHWEST OF HUTCHINSON KANSAS.

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.
PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING
WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE
WARNINGS.

OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...THIS TORNADO WATCH REPLACES TORNADO WATCH
NUMBER 118. WATCH NUMBER 118 WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT AFTER 630 PM
CDT. CONTINUE...WW 119...WW 120...WW 121...WW 122...

DISCUSSION...ISOLATED TORNADIC SUPERCELLS SHOULD CONTINUE ENEWD AT
OVER 40 KT ACROSS WRN/NWRN OK AND POSSIBLY SRN KS THIS EVENING
WHERE STRONG PRESSURE FALLS AND MODERATE INSTABILITY ARE IN PLACE.
ACTIVITY MAY EVOLVE INTO A MORE LINEAR STRUCTURE AND INCREASE THE
THREAT OF DAMAGING WINDS LATER THIS EVENING.


AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND
GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500.
MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 24045.
