Syrian "back-step boogie"...

#1 Postby streetsoldier » Wed Apr 16, 2003 2:44 pm

Syria, aparently wishing to curry favor with US demands, has ordered all Iraqis to leave the country; they have also dismissed claims about the illegal Iraqi pipeline, stating, "We went without that oil for 20 years, and we can do without it for 20 more".

Syria is unbending about US demands to supress Hezbollah and Hamas, however. Hezbollah's newspaper today printed a "comparison" between President Bush and Adolf Hitler (THIS is "rich"...Hezbollah and the Nazis had the same genocidal goal in mind re: Israel and the Jewish people). :grrr:

We have people right here in the United States comparing the White House to the Saddam regime and also chanting in the streets the comparison of Bush to Hitler, how sad.

From what I understand, Syria is trying to get a resolution passed through the Security Council to declare all Arab countries and the Middle East be weapons of mass destruction free. I believe this is a direct hit on Israel. IMO Israel is living much the same as we are, as a democracy and enjoys some of the freedoms we have but they live in fear too, as we do, of terrorist attacks. They are no direct threat with their WMD just as the United States is not. The rest of those countries such as Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan etc. are rogue countries, oppress their people, live off the fat of the land while their people are starving.
