Lilly was a lulu as many recall. Maybe Ivan....

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

will emulate Lilly:

One for the Books

The strange behavior of the storm that turned from lion to (almost) lamb inspired this unusually personal report from forecaster Avila of the National Hurricane Center:

"A very interesting event occurred with Lili in the past 24 hours.
It intensified rapidly to a strong category four hurricane and
weakened to a category two as fast as it strengthened. There will
be many explanations after the fact...and perhaps many Ph.D.
dissertations. I am glad there will be some. The truth is that
nobody was able to predict these sudden changes in intensity."
Thus, Lili is one for the history books -- but nothing like the disaster so many feared it might become.
