As far as I know, that is a RECORD! Someone(Houstonia) said yesterday that "40 feet at 42041 off the la coast" was the record...I'm trying to confirm...

Yes! It is a Record!

See: Hurricane Lili (2002)

"Another buoy along Lili’s path (42041) approximately 145 miles south of Houma, LA recorded wave heights of 40 feet!"
