Is Ivan deepening a little?

#1 Postby EDR1222 » Wed Sep 15, 2004 7:18 pm

Just wonderingif it will strengthen before it comes ashore. It looks more filled in around the eye and the eye is much more clear than earlier today. Maybe I have been looking at it too much.

Any thoughts ?

pressure have fallen from 140 to 131 mb in the last 8 hours...so yes....he has deepened...the sat pics seem to show a levelling off....

if the current post of 138kts is true...then winds are catching up to the pressure...and have increased dramatically in the last 4 hours.

In my unprofessional opinion, there was definately strengenthening over the past few hours, but now there is dry air enteritainment, that should diminish it siginificantly from here on out.

Or maybe I am just hoping Ivan is getting weaker by the minute as landfall approaches!

Just out of curiosity, is Ivan still over that eddy in the gulf?

I dont see any dry air. When he looked like rags this morning, thats because he was choked by dry air. Now he spit it out.

Dry air entrainment is not a problem ATM.

I'm sure you mean 940 to 931 mb ...

138 kts ... whoa ... If that's true (I can't find any vortex data on that), 90% reduction with intense convection ... 125 kts SFC, or roughly 145 MPH ...
