me the location of this massive high that's supposed to lift Karl N and NE? Thanks.

Umm ... you mean trough, not high, right?

It's digging down past the northeast states and the maritimes.

I don't see a strong trough OR high that will affect Karl.

The trough is that area of elongated cloudiness, showers and thunderstorms moving SW to NE to Karl's northwest.

And yet Mr Karl just jogged sw!! I haven't seen Karl veer much from a due west direction the last few hours...Hey, this is 2004..ANYTHING is possible!!!

Sure it's possible along with pretty high confidence that the trough will pick him up.

I know what you mean with this being "2004"... but tropical cyclones in general are unpredictable to a point every year. :)

Was he expected to track this far West? He's already past 44W and still moving WNW and is expected to continue to do so for the next 24 hours. When is the turn forecast?

it suppose to turn it around 50 long, but its at 45 now, so it may be delayed a few degrees. On sat pics you can see the trough, but seeing how these models have been doing lately, who knows.

Remember, the models have been severely undercooking the high pressure systems all season long. It'll probably still go up and out, but a little further west than originally anticipated. Looks like it's already further west than they thought.
