Two years ago today, Hurricane Isidore was hitting the Yucatan as a category 3 hurricane. Today, Jeanne is threatening the east coast as a category 2 hurricane.
Jeanne has continued to intensify and is now an 85 kt or 100 mph category 2 hurricane.
WIth that high building in, my track is the farthest west it has been in days. Simple, I expect a due west, then west-northwest, then northwest track through 72 hours, followed by due north at 96-120 hours. On this path I DO have Jeanne making landfall near the South Carolina/North Carolina border.
As for intensity, I feel that Jeanne may become a major hurricane in the next 36-48 hours. However, I will bring it to 95 kt or 110 mph (VERY STRONG CATEGORY 2) and then hold it there. Really, I am starting to realize that the Jeanne may have overcome the worst conditions for development. Those "HARSH" conditions for development that have been mentioned for days, may have actually occured already. I basically hold Jeanne status-quo until landfall.
