i'm relaxing a bit ...

#1 Postby FLAgirl » Fri Sep 24, 2004 11:19 pm

Here in Broward County, I'm relaxing a bit even thought I think we will still have pretty bad weather tomorrow. The cone has shifted a bit north. I'm sure tomorrow will be pretty nasty, but I'm feeling a little better that we won't get a direct hit. Anyone feeling the same?

Models are indicating a Fort Lauderdale landfall.

Actually, I was just starting to take a breather here in Cocoa because of "on the other hand..."

FLAgirl,

The ETA is showing a Ft. Lauderdale landfall. How accurate the ETA depends on who you talk to. More important than one model is that the latest run of the GFS, NOGAPS and ETA are more south, which may indicate a trend toward the south. In other words, you're not out of the woods yet, but I would be more worried if I lived in Palm Beach.

I wouldn't be resting easier yet... it's due east of you right now and if it keeps going west... it would hit directly. I'm not saying it will(I'm fairly confident in a landfall from West Palm Beach northward), but that could change.

Thanks Miami. I know it's going to be bad tomorrow. But "bad" is relative. All I worry about is "life threathening" and nothing more. All my material things can get blown into the everglades for all I care, as long as me and my family aren't hurt. I think it's going to be OK. I'll keep the faith.

Hurricane "Supplies"

Speaking of picnics, I was in Publix today picking up a few last minute....um......essentials.... when it dawned on me as I looked in peoples carts - that it was kind of interesting to see what people consider - "hurricane supplies".

Ok, I have to admit that that in addition to water and batteries, I *had* to have 3 half gallons of chocolate milk (which I freeze) and 3 boxes of uh.... cupcakes...

Yikes....

What are some of your "essential" hurricane supplies? :)

Well, as of now, Jeanne is already N of the Broward County line and still trending a bit north. Bodes well for us unless she somehow gets pushed southward.
