National Hurricane Center radio op reported eye over Marsh Harbour at 0800L. Amateur radio op at Little Harbour reported storm surge of only a foot. I didn't get the rest of his report.

We are in the eye of the storm! Only a few minutes to post!

The town ( Guana Cay) is flooded from what I have heard on the VHF and We lost our Dingy. The VHF is busy and everyone I can heard sounds safe.

Lots of water in houses; . This storm isn't tossing the sand like normal.It is stronger then Francis or maybe it's just because it's comming from a different direction but it certainly feels worse.

More after this is over!

Today, 08:32 AM More from Guana

Mike just came back from town, Water covering the docks in Orchid Bay and the whole town. Water all the way back to behind Milo's. Paul and Erin lost all their windows in the new house. JR's boat broke off it's morring but are getting it now.Tammy and Graig lost a piece of their roof. But with all that said it's not as bad as Floyd , might be more like Francis but we'll have to see after we pass through part two,and we are all safe on the Cay. Bruce and Judy are doing fine the new felt has held.

Today, 08:52 AM

I spoke with Harcourt Thompson at 8:15 AM EDT by sat phone as the eye of Jeanne was passing over MOW. He said the wind was as bad as Frances but wasn't going to last as long. The wind had come out of the north north west and apparently MOW's "surge proof" harbour isn't. Harcourt said there was 3 feet of water on the harbour road and all of the business buildings along the harbour were flooded with 2.5 to 3 feet of water. He will call agian as soon as the back side passes and I will post again.

In the meantime let's keep all of our Abaco friends in our prayers!

cyclone--you're doing a great service for your sister Commonwealth country.
You're welcome at our place in Abaco, asuming it's still there, anytime.

Note that much of the information is coming from Ham Radio and the transmissions are breaking up a bit.

GTC=Green Turtle Cay

Today, 09:06 AM
I don't know if this is accurate but I thought Earl said surge of two feet. He is 60 feet from the water's edge on Black Sound. He reported, a few minutes ago, that eye was beginning in GTC.

See my 1000L report from Elbow Cay too......

Regards,

Steve Rutledge, Memphis, TN

1005L report from amateur radio op at Little Harbour.....Winds 80-100 mph estimated, 200 degrees. Pressure 28.81 and rising. Sorry about that. Air temp is 77 degrees.

Cyclone - thank you for posting the Abaco board info here. It makes it sooo much easier for us in FL who are prepping for Jeanne to stay up with our friends in the Abacos. There are at least a few of us on Storm2K who own property there. But right now we're more concerned for the safety of those in the islands!

And believe whatever Earl Russel of Green Turtle reports. He doesn't exaggerate. I would take a guess that if the surge is stronger than Floyd on GTC and Treasure Cays then it will be strong in FLA.

MH=Marsh Harbour

Today, 09:20 AM
For those that can not see Miami WPLG channel 10 reporter that is in MH, we just saw his video report taken during the eye. They drove along the MH waterfront and there was seaweed and some water across the road with what appears to be significant flooding/high water from the harbour, they showed damaged docks at the Conch Inn, a catamaran come ashore where the conch stand was next to Snappas and indeed a Mainship boat had come ashore infront of Sapadillys. An interview with the Police Chief stated that there were no injuries reported. He further stated that the new port building had significant damage. They then gave a live report that the second half had begun and that the eye lasted almost 2 hours.

Treasure Cay Surge

Just got off the Satphone with Lee at Brigantine Bay Villas...

Blue skies, sunny, gentle breeze, but hazy in the middle of the eye.

Not as much debris, probably since Frances pulled most down. Rain not as significant this time either.

Apparently a storm surge did come over Treasure Cay from the North, or the beach side. Not as high as seen in Floyd. Water was ankle deep around Brigantine Road, but subsided just as the eye arrived.

No reports from the beach yet. Suspect they were hit hardest.

With tide dropping toward low and south winds ahead, worst should be over....

More to follow...

Just got a report from neighbor in Leisure Lee at 10:00a.m. Dwight is bailing water from his house. The surge is about 2 feet above normal ground level, a tree floated by his boat. Everyone is in my prayers, question Where do you throw the water out when bailing? Just kidding! God bless everyone and may they all be safe. Stuff is stuff but people are our loved ones.
