W. Fla. pressure plunging!........

#1 Postby dixiebreeze » Sat Sep 25, 2004 6:15 pm

Barometric pressure here is falling rapidly (Citrus County area):

Wind: 10 mph / 17 km/h from the NNW
Wind Gust: 24 mph / 39 km/h
Pressure: 29.74 in / 1007 hPa

To be expected of course, in advance of a major hurricane. Here come the headaches.

Oh - since you bring up headaches...

Where can I get more info on the low pressure headache thing? I think I get those, but maybe it's stress. I had a nasty headache for the past 24 hours (finally starting to subside). I seemed to get one about the same time/distance for each of the storms that have come close...

No barometer headache in Pinellas county yet

Interesting note: during Ivan, my sister said the pressure was so bad she felt like her eyeballs were going to pop out of her head. YUCK!

I get low pressure headaches, but I'm convinced it's more about the rate of fall than the absolute pressure. 15 minutes before a bad thunderstorm my head hurts, but I'm usually better about when it arrives.

I would guess I equilibrate as fast as I can. I wanted to hear if anyone has ever heard of anyone doing a PhD or something on rate of pressure drop as an indicator.

29.61 and RISING in Naples. I've had a major headache all day (Stress plus pressures=migraine).

Not complaining because there will be many different kinds of headaches on the east coast later tonight and tomorrow.

Be safe everyone.

Is there anything you can do about it? I've laways told my husband that I can predict a storm because of the headaches...lol...Now, I know I'm not crazy!

I do agree that it is the changing pressure that contributes to headaches, aching joints, etc., and not where the pressure is at any given time. The aches for me usually happen during the fall and then subside.

Pressure starting to drop again here. Now down to 26.64, new low after holding steady around 26.66-26.68 from around 4 until 9. Highest wind gust now 42, sustained at 29. Storm has gained only .1 of lat since 5. Hope turn starts soon.
