Wonder if the Keys...

...are having any notable impact? Looks like some of the bands are scraping along their south coastline...

Believe it or not, out of Charley, Frances, Ivan and now Jeanne - down here in Miami, I think the best, strongest feederband I felt out of the 4 was the very first band from Charley as it emerged from Cuba. That band was fast moving and short-lived, but it was quite a severe squall line. There was A LOT of lightning in that band. The Keys saw that one too, I remember them showing on TV how much lightning was in that band.

Patrick, I agree with ya on that. Charley was about the only one that affected us down here, especially in Homestead. We've really had nothing more than a little wind from the others, and even that's been nothing worse than we get from normal t-storms. I feel for our friends up north though...

We had the strongest effects from Jeanne, but I think it was just the randomness of bands. There were two large bands that were far out from the center and came across the Keys. I think they missed Miami.

AFAIK, no damage here. I have power. There was a lot of rain starting yesterday afternoon and overnight. Skies now are ptly cloudy, with clouds moving fast from SW.

There might be some minor flooding and beach erosion on the bayside (there aren't many sand beaches though, mostly rock). Some boats probably dragged their anchors or got banged into docks.

I noticed we had evacuees from South Florida here on Saturday in the stores. There are no shortages of gas or food, everything's open. Please come visit, the hospitality industry and workers throughout Florida need you!
