I heard these two stats on my local news last night. WPLG-10, Miami.
*1 in 5 homes in Florida has sustained hurricane damage this season.
*700,000 insurance claims have been filed this hurricane season.
I just found this interesting, especially the first stat! Staggering!

I'm wondering what the numbers were based on... 1 in 5 that made a claim or 1 in 5 that sustained some sort of damage?
For example, on my street, we all sustained "damage" but it was all relatively minor ( although as I entered my 3rd week of cutting, dragging, raking, nailing, burning, sweeping... it didn't seem so minor to me ...). None of us filed claims since it was mostly personal labor to clean up, reattach screens, gutters, remove trees ( that didn't hit structures), clean out freezers, replace a tile or two, and replace mailboxes ( after we found them).
