Hurricanes and Fishing

The common wisdom is that fish do not bite going into a hurricane, and they bite like crazy right after one. As few people are in a position to go fishing immediately after a hurricane, I don't know if this has been put to the test.

On the Friday morning before Jeanne hit, I surf fished at the Boynton Beach inlet (just to the north of the north jetty). The day before I had noticed people were catching bluefish there (it usually isn't a good surf fishing spot, but good for catching bait).

I got there shortly after daybreak Friday morning, started casting a Crocodile spoon on light tackle, and after a while I was too exhausted from fighting bluefish to fish anymore. Every single cast produced a hookup of fish in the 1-4 pound range. Also lots of jacks and large ladyfish, a total feeding frenzy. The bait was leaping up on dry land to escape the predators.

Anybody else tried fishing before/after storms?
