Hurricane Season 2004 Website

#1 Postby recmod » Mon Oct 11, 2004 6:02 am

Good Morning,
I have been working on a website containing a pictorial history of the 4 hurricanes that struck Florida this year. I have now completed the task and invite everyone to check it out:
http://www.recmod.com/hurricane/hurricane2004.html
Most of the pictures (with the exception of Ivan) were taken by myself as the storms crossed over Central Florida. I have included a media photos section for each storm to show the damages beyond my narrow local view. Since Ivan did not directly affect Central Florida, I had to rely on using online media resources for pictures of that storm.
The purpose in creating the site was for a personal "scrapbook" of Hurricane Season 2004. I just wanted to share with fellow weather enthusiasts who I thought might enjoy the images.

Take care,
--Lou

I'm impressed. Excellent website!

I'm especially glad you included Jeanne pics. I don't know about down in Florida, but it seems Jeanne didn't get as much media attention as the other 3 hurricanes. I mean she got the extensive coverage at landfall, but seemed to fade quicker from the news. I guess everyone was just tired of hurricanes.

Nice site but I have a request. Would it be possible to include some Tampa/St. Pete photos? Both ripped up signs and trees here too. And quite a storm surge in downtown Tampa. In addition too massive flooding along many rivers.

Great Job!! I've been in (4) hurricane eyes in 32 years in Hobe Sound, the last (2) in 3 weeks! Thanks for the satellite pictures!
Where can I get the official stats on the Hurricanes, such as peak gusts, pressure, surge, etc. Especially the Stuart/ Hobe Sound area. Thanks

Thanks to everyone for the kind words on my Hurricane Season 2004 website. I have always kept scrapbooks of each hurricane season and the internet has allowed me to update an old-fashioned idea and share with you guys.
Back in 1992, I built up a collection of 6 scrapbooks with newspaper clippings and photos I took myself from Hurricane Andrew. That monumental project consumes over 500 pages of hurricane history. Unfortunately, there was no internet back then :(

Take care,
Lou

2004 Hurricane Season Website

#20 Postby recmod » Tue Mar 29, 2005 7:10 pm

Hi Everyone.

I have been continuing to work on my Hurricane Season 2004 Website. I have added to the Orlando Sentinel Scrapbook, which now contains 80 pages. I have also added photos to each of the hurricane pages, as well as some movies of Satellite and radar loops for hurricane Charley.
You can check out the site at http://www.recmod.com/hurricane/hurricane2004.html

To view just the scrapbook:

Enjoy!
