I'll be happy when...

> We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire. The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges.

How true!!!
You never know when your time is up! Life is too short to delay doing things for yourself and enjoying life right now!
It can, unfortunately if you aren't actually delaying, but rather having difficulty doing things you really want to do in life.

You're right! It is easier said than done just like Bfez and I said. Unfortunately, there alot of people out there that can't do what they really want to do now for various reasons. It's great to have goals though, but they must be realistic as well.
To add alittle twist to Mamdude's quote, sometimes we are searching for something, that magic whatever, that will make us happy and melt all of our fears away. Some people will keep searching until they die and what they really needed to find all along was themselves and to be happy and content and proud of who they are. When that finally happens, then you are truly happy.

Time is just a measurement. If we try and put a time frame on happiness, past or future. We tend to miss the present tense happy. I think each of us has our own set of difficulties to deal with on a daily basis. I am so greatfull for the Lords grace, if it were not for that I doubt I would be a very happy person. Through His grace I am able to be happy in the moment, in the now, and hopeful and confident of future happiness.

LOL...I do this every day! I must say...I am a happy, easy going person! I thank the good Lord that I wake up each morning. If I wake up...it's definitely a good day! many people take things for granted. A nice house, a nice car (that some may not be able to afford), and many many other things that are only material possessions. I DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT care about all of these things. As long as I have clothes on my back, lungs to breathe with, food on the table, a roof over my head, and love in my life...I am happy! Live life for the moment...and love every minute that you are allowed to be on this earth.

I know God doesn't make deals...but in my younger years...standing side by side with a Korean mercenary who could not speak my language, nor I his, I asked Him to make a deal.
I was less than 50 yards from 40,000 gallons of jet fuel stored in a tank being targeted by enemy rockets. It was something like 2 am. No moonlight. Just starlight and flares floating slowly down from above.
I had been in Vietnam less than 3 weeks. It didn't take much imagination to consider what my fate would be if one of those rockets were to hit that tank. Toast. Burnt toast.
"God," I pleaded, "if somehow you could find a way to get me out of this place...to get me back to the people I love and care about, I'll be happy with anything else that could come my way in life. Please God, not tonight. Not here. Not alone."
Happiness has evolved from that night...and from other days and nights like those. Your thread, mamadude, reminds me of the pledges I've made to myself...and to those who surround me. And to God Himself.
Thanks for the reminder!

Yes indeedy, life is so short, so precious, we can't afford to waste on single minute.
Oh how I wish I would have stopped by and seen Billie Valeri for the last time before she went home. I swore I was gonna go see her, by the time I got *around to it*, the Good Lord called her home. Don't wait, don't put off ANYTHING that pops into your head, to coin a worn out phrase "Just Do it!"
