dont ever fly US Airways
this is what went wrong on my flight today:
1. Landed on time at Philly, but another plane was at our gate. Idiot captain refused to go to an open gate, leaving us on the runway for 30 minutes... making me miss my connecting flight which was 30 minutes after my first flight arrived.
2. No compensation. Dumb morons sais it wasnt their fault. Not going to an open gate isnt their fault?
3. Lost my luggage in Buffalo
4. System to check the status of a luggage claim is automated and not manned.
my advice <NEVER FLY US AIRWAYS. PAY THE EXTRA MONEY FOR A DECENT AIRLINE

I hope they find your luggage, Derek! I almost have a master's degree in packing everything I need
in a carry-on...mix-and-match...I can get that
at the hotel, etc., etc...I won't let THEM have MY
stuff! I use an overnight for a purse, and pack it
full, then, everything else is in my carry-on. If
it don't fit, I don't need it!
Thanks for the tip on USAirways. I usually pick
American or Southwest.

Losing your luggage was bad, but the gate incident wasn't the airline's fault. If an aircraft is occupying your gate, you can't just go to a new one, because that will screw the whole system up. You go to a new gate, and the aircraft that is supposed to be at that gate has to go to a new gate, etc. It is a potential domino effect. That being said, I have flown US many times and haven't had a problem with them.
Also, if you all don't want to fly on them, that's your choice. Chances are that they won't be around much longer anyways. They've already laid off thousands of workers, cut pilot pay by 21%, and are now paying their flight attendants at 1982 levels...

So sorry to hear of your's w/ them, Derek.![]()

Big difference now. The airline has already filed for bankruptcy and is just barely clinging to life right now.
Yes. I know it really sucks.

Derek,
Did you see where the plane in Orlando landed and they found what they thought were bullitt holes. I heard later someone used a screw driver and punched holes so I'm not sure what the real story is.

I wonder if they've checked INSIDE where those holes are, to make sure nothing was injected/inserted into the plane. Not quite sure what a person could get through a screwdriver-sized puncture hole. But, hey, I never knew it was possible to carry explosives in a shoe until just a couple of years ago. I wouldn't put anything past those guys.

I had a similar experience last Christmas with United Express. They were late landing at O'Hare and we missed a connecting flight back to Jacksonville. They told us there were no available flights until the following Monday which would have left us stranded in Chicago for 3 days.
We were lucky and got a flight home on standby and were only stranded in the airport about 6 hours. They only offered us a discount coupon for a hotel if we would have been forced to stay. Luggage ended up getting to Jacksonville the next day.

That's probably why they're trying avoid bankruptcy - AGAIN - I think for the third time. Judge just awarded US Airways the ability to cut the pilot's salary by 21%. I have to wonder what kind of cuts the CEO, etc. are taking.

Anyway, just another blackeye for the "City of Brotherly Love".

I dont think there's any such thing as a "decent" airline any longer. They're almost all two or three steps from bankruptcy and I've had some horrific experiences on just about all of them except British Air and Virgin Air. Those two have provided excellent service every time I've flown with them.
