TIME CHANGES ..ONE MANS SORROW ANOTHER MANS JOY

#1 Postby tropicana » Sun Oct 31, 2004 11:09 am

While time changes across North America surely signal a return of colder weather and winter not far off, it's the opposite in the Southern Hemisphere.. where seasons are reversed.

For the record...
Syndey AUS is now 16 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time, Perth AUS is 13 hours ahead, London UK is 5 hours ahead, Madrid Spain is 6 hours ahead.

SYDNEY AUS Sun Oct 31st 2004
There was not much more daylight Sunday than the day before. People just talked about it more.

Whether it caught you unawares and left you late for that vital Sunday appointment or not, the start of daylight saving brought with it a warm spring day for Sydney.

With sunrise moving from 4.56am on Saturday to 5.55am Sunday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, most Sydneysiders would have gained an extra hour of sun. Instead of setting at a sombre 6.22pm, the sun quit at a much more congenial 7.22pm.

Sydneysiders had good weather to enjoy it, too, with temperatures varying from 21 degrees (70F) at Liverpool to 23C 73F in the city, 25C 77F at Parramatta and 26C 79F at Richmond.

In the sea at Bondi, according to the bureau's buoy, the water was 18.4 65F degrees. That was "pretty typical", said technical officer Bill Geer.

The director of the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition, David Handley, said yesterday was a particularly busy day along the coastal walk between Bondi and Tamarama beaches
