Georgia sure is in the news a lot lately

I used to feel like Texas dominated the national news with weird cases (Waco, cheerleader-killing mom, wife who runs over her husband, a mom drowning her babies, hoods dragging a man to his death). But lately, there have been two poisoning cases in GA and now this one comes back to the headlines: http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/11/19/crema ... index.html

It's certainly been bizarre here lately...

We even had a very strange incident in my hometown recently. A lady (Bev Mitchell) vacationing for a month in Europe returned to find someone "living" in her home; Ms Mitchell was so frightened, she backed into a tree as she tried to flee and call 911 on her cellphone.

Police arrived and arrested the "squatter"....an insane looking middle aged woman, who'd broken into the home by smashing windows with a shovel. During the 2-3 week period she illegally inhabitated Ms Mitchell's home, the woman virtually destroyed the home's interior....ripping up expensive carpeting from the floors, replacing the homeowners furniture with furniture from a rental center (she GAVE AWAY Ms Mitchell's furniture, as well as all kitchen appliances)....threw all of Ms Mitchell's family photos and portraits away, spray painted graffiti all over the interior ceiling and walls. Also, the woman stole thousands from Ms Mitchell's bank account during the three week escapade...cashing stolen checks she found in Ms Mitchell's bedroom. The idiot even had the utilities changed into her name.

Bev Mitchell estimates the damage and losses of her property at $100,000 (not including the personal items such as family photos, portraits, etc). The uninvited guest/ burglar is sitting in jail awaiting trial...but get this...her son is an Atlanta police officer, and he's THREATENED Ms Mitchell (the homeowner), threatened to SUE Ms Mitchell for having his mother arrested, and for DEFAMING HER in the local press (even though his mom's illegal actions have financially ruined Ms Mitchell :grr: :grr:

According to local media sources, the 57 yr old woman who broke in, occupied, and destroyed Ms Mitchell's home has some serious psychological issues (duh!
