Thanksgiving Plans!

#1 Postby Guest » Wed Nov 24, 2004 10:42 am

First, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all Storm2kers! :) I did not realize until just now  that I have been here for 1 year and about a week! I am enjoying it immensely. :)

What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Me :( I work in a grocery store, so... Work tonight 4pm to 12 midnight, and then work 8am to 4pm on Turkey day! :( Oh, well, I need the money, and I already have approval for vacation during Christmas, so a little give and take! :)

We're picking up the Turkey and Dressing this afternoon from a local restaurant. We're going to my dad's work for lunch tomorrow and will eat out there. There will be some other side items as well. Tomorrow's my dad's last day of work until Januay. :) Saturday Night, we're going out to eat with my grandparents, uncle, and some other relatives but we won't be eating Turkey.

This year my brother-in-law Mike, sister Retha and their kids Janae and Jared will be with his family in Mt. Airy, NC...they'll be with us for Christmas Eve...alternate every year. :) So it will be my folks and I celebrating our first Thanksgiving in Raleigh since having moved to our brand new townhouse in June. :)

We'll be cooking part of the meal and also ordering some food from a K&S Cafeteria carry-out and watch some football...most importantly though thanking the Lord for all His Blessings that He gives to us each day and that we as a family have each other...nothing better than the love, warmth and care that a family has for each other. :)

Parents here are deceased, and siblings scattered around country so I am staying home with my family and cooking the bird and all sides. My day of thanksgiving will start when daughter and grandson move out into a place of their own(soon I hope).

How can I forget? I also have a 3 - 5 page English essay to draft and have some stuff to read for my history class! :(

We'll still do a big turkey on the grill plus sides, but it's just my hubby and I for Thanksgiving this year. My daughter and new son-in-law will be with his folks in SC; my husband's family is in AZ; my sisters are in the Midwest. Since I don't have classes tonight (yeah!) I'll be able to attend our church service.

I have to find time this weekend to update syllabi for two courses I'll teach again in January, prepare a syllabus for a new course I'll be teaching then, plus read three classes' worth of student essays. (Although I'm sure holiday decorating, shopping, and some quality time with my husband will take priority!)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, whether you're at home, working, or visiting family -- Storm 2Ker's are the friendliest, most supportive people on-line -- I'm truly thankful for you all! :)

Having ribs at my parents' house. Mmmmmm. :-)

Friday, I'll hope Home Depot isn't overrun because I actually have to do some shopping for my own needs. (The world doesn't come to a stop in December.) Saturday, probably going to the FAU game with some friends.
