Old wives....I mean, Old wives tales!

#1 Postby azsnowman » Sun May 11, 2003 8:15 pm

Needless to say, I've been around the block a few times, being from a farming family from Texas :D I heard and had MANY a old wives tales tried on me, most work, most are just plain ol BS. One being, "Put butter on a burn!" "NOT!" talk about infection and PAIN, WOWEEE :o I can't tell you HOW many times growing up I had butter applied to burns, it's a wonder I'm still alive

Any more interesting tales that work/don't work?

Rubbing alcohol.... :o

I can't begin to count the times, growing up, that I had
a cool alcohol bath for a high fever! Shhhew! It wasn't the
alcohol that brought the temp down, but, the cool water
that it was diluted in.

But, one technique that works - if you're nauseated, take
a few sniffs of rubbing alcohol - it really does help to get
rid of the nausea!

These are examples of my personal 'ol wives' tales.

How about "You'll find someone...you're a handsome fella"
Or the "I can't possibly date you, you're too nice ... and I don't wanna ruin our friendship ..."

BWAH HA HA HA HA!...
