Tsunami fund raiser at school

#1 Postby coriolis » Sat Jan 15, 2005 5:51 pm

I totally made my kids mad at me. Their school is having a fundraiser for relief efforts. The class that raises the most gets an ice cream party. My one son wanted me to give him money to take in but not for his brother in another class. I offered a modest amount for both of them equally, but they didn't think it was enough. Till we finally settled on something, the deadline was past.

It just seems a little venal to me to offer a prize like that on behalf of that terrible tragedy. Besides, I don't know where the money is going.

I'll hear about it again when the "winning" class is announced.

It also sounds a little half-hearted to me also. I could see awarding "prizes" to classes that come up with the most money for, say, computer equipment, playground equipment. But this is a TRAGEDY we are dealing with here. Maybe placing a plaque on the "winning" classroom's door would be more appropriate.
