***PICS of Snow-Clobbered Everett***

#1 Postby btornado » Sun Jan 23, 2005 10:42 am

I'm not sure how deep the snow is, as it is impossible to measure due to the massive drifting. All of these pictures were taken this morning at around 9 am, while it was still snowing heavily. Temp at the time was 7 F, and winds were gusting to 40+ mph. Needless to say, it was a blast!

Very Impressive Photos! :)

The two that amaze me are the one where someone is standing on the walkway leading up to the house, with ~5 to 6 foot drifts on either side. Grand Canyon of snow, anyone? The other is the vehicle just about buried. I assume noone will be leaving that residence soon!

WOW!

My 10 year old son said "I would NEVER go outside in that kind of storm".

Simply amazing...looks like maybe 3-4 feet (with monstrous drifts)?

A 10 year old said that, wow! When children don't even want anything to do with a storm...wow!

Exactly what I thought too. When snow-starved 10 year olds don't want anything to do with that kind of snow, it's serious. Very serious.

We've lived in Atlanta all his life. He's especially snow starved at this point. The last decent snow (ie, snow that actually accumulated) he's seen was when he was just 7 years old...and it's becoming a very faded memory for him.

Even so, when he saw those pics, he was adamant he wouldn't go outside in Mass today. I told him "good, because I wouldn't have let you anyway". :cheesy:

Snow in Everett, MA

#8 Postby btornado'swife » Sun Jan 23, 2005 4:40 pm

Hello All. I am BTornado's wife. We live in Everett, MA about 4 miles north of Boston. Today has been an interesting day here in NE. We are under a State of Emergency until midnight Monday.

Anyways....just wanted to say that, yes...it is as bad outside as it looks. It is windy, cold and snowy. However, when you live in NE you get used to the weather and know to dress appropriately. Hence, you do take your children outside, dressed in layers.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Welcome Bonnie! I agree, I grew up in NE and you learn to love the big snows. Kids can't build a proper snow fort without them! Dress them warm and let them loose! Honestly a good cold blast makes me want to get outside and play! (and I'm no kid anymore!)

Thanks for the amazing pix, btornado, and welcome, Bonnie! After nearly 5 years in SE Florida, I still love snow -- looking at it, that is! :)

Wow. That is amazing! Looks like lots of fun to play in and make huge snowmen. Feel sorry for the people who want to get out and go somewheres, but can't due to the heavy snow.
