DALLAS, Texas (WFAA ABC 8) - Across North Texas, thousands of youngsters went to bed Tuesday night with dreams of fluffy white snow blanketing streets and highways by morning—after the National Weather Service issued warnings that three inches or more could accumulate overnight.
"A lot of disappointed youngsters out there, I am sure," said WFAA-TV (Channel 8) meteorologist Greg Fields. "The temperatures overnight did stay well above freezing, so all we had was light rain."
Fields said some sleet was reported north and west of the metropolitan area, but that the precipitation had ended by daybreak and skies were expected to slowly clear as the day progressed.
Wednesday's high was forecast in the low to mid-40s; more rain was in the outlook for late Saturday and on Sunday.
WFAA-TV contributed to this report.
Sorry, kids: no snow
