Is he just now digging out? Hello out there to j!!!! Can you hear me now? LOL

Question...is that dog real or a statue? I can see my dog jumping into snow drifts....oh yeah, Hope loves snow. But it looks as if that dog jumped in, and came out head first!!! A cute pic if the dog is real!

The first one is a sobering thought. On a street that narrow, just where do you put the snow while digging out your car, shoveling a path to your house or mailbox? I know in NYC they cart the snow away but do they do that also in Boston? Just curious..

Mary

PS - that third pic reminds me of the show St. Elsewhere....set in Boston.

Mary,

Brings back memories of the Ohio Valley Blizzard of 1977-'78 doesn't it??!

And when the Ohio River froze over!!

Eric - yes it does! We have narrow streets like these Boston pics in several suburbs in Cincinnati. Residents have to park on the street, you have no where to put the snow. Where I lived back then, thankfully I didn't have that problem. We did have huge snow drifts in the 78 Blizzard. My brother had a jeep back then and was personally responsible for getting essential personnel (nurses, doctors, paramedics, fireman, police officers) to and from work, from their apartment complex. Got the impression his jeep ran the whole time and Kenny loved helping his neighbors out. Today, half the people would own SUV's!!!! No need for a lone owner of a Jeep to help out.....he also drove down to the river. And was contemplating driving across - some crazy nuts did just that, when police weren't around. But thankfully Kenny's wife said no and they also had a new baby to think of. I heard you had to own a 4 wheel vehicle to get across because the surface was not smooth like a pond would freeze over. Because of the strong, swift current, the Ohio River froze with waves high in the air, never smooth. Can you imagine being in a Jeep back then, smack dab in the middle of the river, dodging all these waves that had frozen? Gives me the willies to think about.

I am sooooooo jealous!!! Despite getting decent snow out of that storm, I couldn't help feeling gypped! They promised so much more for us!

My snow shovel and I aren't having a very happy winter this year!

This was a special year for Boston and Cape Cod because usually they never get that much snow. Usually nor'easters go straight north and clober Philly, DC and New York, but Boston and Cape Cod are usually on the warmer fringes and they may have mixing or rain especially the cape and nantucket. They are snow lucky this year because storm systems were far offshore to give cold air and just on the exact spot to get severe snow.

The dog looks quite happy. Most of them love snow and he looks to be one of them.

I know horses do not though, except for Clydesdales.
