NWS still forecasting warm weather for Raleigh

#1 Postby Suncat » Tue Feb 22, 2005 8:50 am

The NWS for the Raleigh area as of Tuesday morning is continuing to forecast high temperatures in the low 50's for Friday through Sunday. There's no indication of any winter precip on the horizon - yet. The next rain event is expected to be next Wednesday. :(

The last spell of warm weather last week encouraged my azaleas to begin budding and one plant has started to show a few flowers. This would be the worse time for ice or snow to hit!

As an additional observation, I noticed yesterday that the juncos have returned to my bird feeder! I usually don't see so many of them unless the weather is turning colder.

What a quick change in the forecast!

This morning the local weather forecast is calling for more rain than anything frozen. Considering how strange the weather has been this winter, I would not be surprised if we get some ice accumulation. Still no major change in the forecast for this weekend, but I am going to hold out for late Thursday or even Friday for a final word on that.

So much for the azaleas!
