First in a serious. Monster next week?

#1 Postby krysof » Wed Feb 23, 2005 3:37 pm

Accuweather seems to think so and other forecasters are suggesting it. As of now temperatures will be in the 40's or upper 30's during that time frame but that may change drastically. If you go back a month, the blizzard of 05 was the last in the storm series. The northern jet is expected to plunge and a monster storm could develop, maybe 1996 characteristics, even 1993 possibilities. Like I said, the first of the series just like in January will occur tomorrow and tomorrow night. The second storm on Friday will be way to the south and the last is expected to intensify in the gulf as the powerful jetstreams collide. The track will be everything, but what could make this storm worse is, it will be late February or early March. When a jet goes that far south, than you know something will be happening, and if all verifies, the storm could be close to 1996 status if not approaching it or depending how the cold air enters by that time, 1993 possibilities. The storm will be more similiar to 1996 than 1993 so stay tuned.

Don't forget about the weekend rule for the East Coast when it comes to "Monster" storms. March 1-2 isn't on a weekend. Thus no monster storm :P

this is the possible storm that I'm really intrested in and with the NAO that negative and the PNA growing positive, the storm is a strong possibility, but the track will be very confusing.

it's just after the weekend, that is like stereotyping major storms, the fact that they happened on weekends is just a coincedence nothing more.

That is usually the case with the storms the EC has. However, that doesn't mean that it won't be. Look at tomorrow's storm. If it verifies the 4 - 9 inch potential that the NWS issued a warning for at 4:00 pm, this will be a pretty decent storm that's occuring during the middle of the week.

Most of the Kocin Storms were on the Weekend........ I think we get ours on March 4th-6th 2005! NOT 2001 LOL.

Tell that to some serious forecasters. They really take that "mystical" item to the fullest. March 1-3 are on Tuesday to Thursday, far from the Weekend.

It is fascinating when you see when the storms actually took place, and they are pretty much "weekend" storms.

When you consider the wild and wacky weather they're having in the SW at this time, the 4 hurricanes that hit Florida, etc. this storm occuring not on a weekend seems to be pretty normal for this past year!
