Here is the forecast for the Western Pacific basin from the folks of TSR.They say that a slightly above season is expected there.Read all about why they got to that conclusion pressing the pacific forecast at menu there.Thankfully all who live in this part of the world in the Americas dont have to deal with very active seasons like the WPAC has almost all year around.

Wow, I would love a season like that in the Atlantic. Would be so interesting to track.

Can you imagine 25 cyclones in 6 months, at least they have an entire year. Either way, they are always very active, they are "LA CREME DE LA CREME." But sure it would be interesting, we would even have to use the Greek alphabet.

Unfortunately, now we all can imagine what 25 tropical cyclones would be like. I can even easily imagine 26.

Two more named storms needed then for them to get the first number right. :)

ATLC: 29 TDs, 26 TSs

WPAC: 24 TDs, 23 TSs

In the TD part we are winning by five, in the TS, by 3.

Actually, WPAC is running BELOW normal since the annual total of warned systems (of which about 27 are named) is 31.7 and the number of typhoons is 18.1. This is based upon the climo summaries produced by JTWC which covers the period of 1959 to 2003 right now.

I'm not sure how many TDs there were that the JMA didn't upgrade to TSs unfortunately.

To those who wish the Atlantic had a huge # of storms...

I know you don't wish for any damage. You just
wish to track them and see them harmlessly go out to sea
away from any land...but unfortunately with 26 storms this
year that didn't happen...I'm not accusing anyone of anything...
but PLEASE be careful what you wish for...
Those numbers in the Atlantic Season led to this:
