I am back! - UPDATE

#1 Postby GulfBreezer » Sun May 15, 2005 9:02 am

Hey all!!
I wanted to give an update to you all and let you know I am still among the living :) For those of you who are new and don't know me, my name is Sandi and I have been a member of this board since it's 2nd day of inception! Last year I lost everything I owned to Ivan the Terrible and we are still rebuilding. For those of you who have helped me through this tough time.....I MISSED YOU!!

Rebuilding is still going slow but we plan on being back in the house by mid July. There are still many FEMA trailers here and one thing is for certain.......we can NOT handle a storm this year. But God's Grace has made us stronger throughout all of this and I thank Him everyday for what we DO have!

I will spend most of my time this season in the chatroom moderating there. I am anxious about this cane season but I am smart enough to realize when things are totally out of my control :)

I have missed you all and am very excited to be at a point where I can get back into the swing of S2K!

Donna, Garret, Steve, Mary, Snowman, Johnathan, Linda, Kelly- I LOVE YOU ALL!!

Sandi

Hey Sandi...

You know that in our minds and hearts...you never really left. But thanks for reminding ALL of us that you are doing ok and tackling the challenges one at a time.

That's how you've come to be the special person that you are!

...and BTW, we will put in a special request for the tropical weather season to give Florida a BIG break this year!

Steve is right Sandi! You have never left our thoughts or hearts. We thought of you often, wanted to help take some of the burden off of your shoulders, wondered how you and your sons were getting along. I am grateful for the updates you sent us and for Johnathan to keep us up to date with how things were progressing.

I do think your story put our initial excitement, for lack of a better word, for hurricanes to develop, into perspective. What happened to you, really hit home with all of us. Suddenly a S2K family member lost everything, in the blink of an eye. It was then and there I began to look at following hurricanes in the future, differently. Being way up north, I don't even have to follow them (but I always will) but now, I will always, always pray for as few residents to be uprooted as you were.

I hope that makes sense. It seems we read of terrible news stories everyday but your story was real to us. And I for one stopped getting so excited about a new hurricane forming. Instead I began cursing them!

So I will pray Florida is spared this year. Oh yes I will.

And I am very glad you're back too. That goes without saying, ya know....;-)

Hugs!

Mary

So glad to see you back. Have thought about you often and wondered how you were doing. I know it's slow going when you are trying to get your life back together after a storm. I had to do that after Hurricane Georges. I still look for things I had and say oh...that was pre-Georges. Oh well. God never gives us more than we can handle, that's what I tell myself all the time.

Glad to see you back and I'll see you in Chat!

I'm so glad your life is getting back together.

I wanted to make a comment regarding the FEMA trailers. I heard on NPR in the last couple of days that the leasing period is getting ready to expire on those, even those many folks utilizing them do not have homes to go to yet. What are they gonna do? Just kick 'em outta there?

I dont understand sometimes.

Last year was not a good storm season and now the report today says to expect a strong season this year as well.

Welcome back!

You have been in my prayers. I am glad to hear that you and your boys are safe and that you are getting your lives together. Sometimes it takes something like an Ivan to make us realize how lucky we are.
