Dippin' Dots!!!

#1 Postby Miss Mary » Tue May 27, 2003 8:33 am

Anyone else a Dippin' Dots fan? I haven't had any yet this year and I'm dying for my Dippin' Dots......so that said, if you're hooked on this type of treat....

What's your favorite flavor? Banana Split here.

Where did you first eat this new type of ice cream (not so new now)? My first time was at Magic Kingdom, in Tomorrow Land.

And how many times a year must you have Dippin' Dots? I'd say at least 6 times a summer for me is a MUST!

And finally, I still marvel at this invention. Don't you wish YOU had come up with this invention? Who ever thought this up must be soooo rich by now.....LOL

I had dippin dots while on vacation in San Antonio. It was an unique type of ice cream. Only place I can get them around here is some of the movie theaters carry them. Where do you get our dippin dots Miss Mary?

Patricia,

Just noticed them at our local Red's Baseball Stadium. At this point I had already had my hot dog, 1 beer and the thought of ice cream on top of that, didn't sound so good! Also, the line for DD was very long, which wasn't surprising! DD is also sold at Paramount Kings Island, our area's amusement park. Years ago one mall carried them but not now. If I had the money, they'd make a great summer stand in my community. DD would sell like crazy here....... And finally, I've always been able to find them on vacation, like last year in Destin, FL. We only hit up that DD stand/store about 5 times before checking out. LOL

I think I have only had dippin dots twice. They are fun to eat and very unique but I must confess, I love creamy, rich ice cream like Ben & Jerry's are Godiva. Yummy!

We have a Dippin Dots at our mall here. I like the chocolate & strawberry.

First had Dippin Dots Islands of Adventure (I think that's the name) in Orlando.

We still have them in Florence Mall, Mary.

I last had them a year or 2 ago at a church picnic. They were strawberry I think and were extremely good.

We have them at the mall here too. I am not real crazy about them but once in a while they are nice! :)

Mint chocolate chip. We had them at the hockey games here in Topeka, but they are leaving. It was expensive though. :o

Here ya go Karan:

http://www.dippindots.com/

Dippin' Dots are hailed as the ice cream of the future. They are tiny frozen balls of ice cream. Some all one flavor, others a mix (banana split is one example). They just melt in your mouth. Quite different than handed dipped or whippy dip ice cream.

My daughter went to Paramount Kings Island with her 7th Grade class today. She had 3 servings of Dippin' Dots. Now that's too much, I politely yelled at her. She's so skinny, hopefully the extra calories will be put to good use. At least she doesn't have a stomach ache....

And I agree they are expensive. My advice is to go for the smallest size. And eat it slowly, it's the same as a larger size. You just savor it better that way I think.

I never heard of Dippin' Dots. Well, I vaguely do at an amusement park (I am not fond of amusement parks). It sounds good [after] looking at the picture on the website.

Mary...I have to think that the one and only time I had dippin' dots was at Walt Disney World. Might it have been in Epcot? Can't remember clearly.
And, apparently they didn't impress me like they did some others.

Now...if you might be talking about the best creme puffs in the world, well I can tell you when and where I had those...right down to the month and year!

We each have our own food "fetishes." And when we have the "best we've ever had," we remember a lot about the time and place.

I still remember my best grilled cheese sandwich was in Zermatt Switzerland of all places...and NOT with Swiss cheese!

Well, Steve, you either like Dippin' Dots or you don't. I guess for me they symbolize summer. My kids know how much I like DD so they'll point it out (like at Kings Island) or they'll rub it in when they've eaten them away from home. Like I had DD, na na na. Kids. For me, I liked them the very first time I tried them - way back in Tomorrow Land (M. Kingdom). We thought they were so strange but so good too.

Grilled cheese? Had to laugh at that one Steve. If I ever serve a grilled cheese sandwich, my kids know we're out of most groceries and I need to go to the store! Me? I like grilled cheese, but the kids just roll their eyes. Maybe I've served it one too many times! I hate grocery shopping sometimes.....put it off a day or two too long. LOL

Grilled cheese and tomato soup - one of my winter favorites.

I've done some research and I have to go to the zoo or a baseball game to get them here in the Burgh. Since the Pirates are improving slightly (even after yesterday), maybe I'll go to a game. Do they go well with beer and hot dogs???

Pburgh/Karan....well, that's what I ate/drank at the last Reds game.....a beer and a hot dog. The thought of DD after that just didn't appeal to me. Jim came back with my hot dog, mentioning how long the line was. I said well, I just saw a kid go by with DD, you could have bought me that. The look on his face....like you'll get your DD one of these days. My family all knows how addicting these DD are to me......I have daily reports if they're out somewhere and they saw them. I have to say seeing kids walk by with DD to their stadium seats made I know at least 20 people salivate for them. Now if they just sold them in the seats' area from a walk-around vender.....boy they'd sell like crazy that way.

We can't ever go to the Mall of America and get out of there without my daughter getting her "fix" of the darned things. they may taste good, but my gosh are they EXPENSIVE. Highway robbery if you ask me. But to see the smile on my daughter's face, makes it worth it.
