You guys!!! I am tearing up here......thank you so much for the wonderful well wishes and congrats for my daughter's graduation! She is now out of high school! We can't believe it, hasn't quite sunk in. My tears started a few days before the ceremony, during her last day and the big senior parade. Seniors get out of school by 9 a.m., after a 2 hour ceremony rehearsal. From there they are free to leave. But they don't. They proceed to drive their cars past school, all decorated and honking horns. For an hour or so. It's quite the sight. I accidentally got caught up in it 2 years ago, having to sign an exam exempt form for Nina. This year I knew better not to show up - she would never have forgiven me! Anyway, we got thru it all - the party and then the ceremony. It all turned out so well. I am so proud of Nina!

Thanks again for your wonderful wishes. I will pass them on!

Thanks Steph and Eric. I had to chuckle at your "you go girl" comment though, Eric. In a nice way ya know.....that was cute, coming from YOU.

Today will be the first day it will really sink in, that Nina is really finished with HS. Laura and I were up at 5:40, for school at 7:20 today. Exams Wed-Fri. Nina wanted to sleep in - a much deserved request, after rising for school at 5:40 for years. And I mean years! When Nina scheduled her fall classes, they offered her an English 101 class at 8:10. She asked for one later. Sure enough, 9:10 was available. She took it! That is her earliest college class in the fall - 9:10. The lucky girl! Meanwhile her sister is envious. We all still ask why HS'ers have to start classes so dang early. Meanwhile, I know Nina hears us up and is just loving staying IN BED! I think I might even go back to bed today....after I get Laura to school (her ride was a senior, now graduated).

I can't even talk Nina into going to the kennel with me, at 8:45 for our dog Hope (whom we've missed terribly!). She had to be there for the big party, too hyper to stay home with lots of company.

I'll be offline again today but maybe be able to pop in tonight, if hubby brings home the laptop. Have a nice Tuesday today everyone....feels just like a Monday. Yeah, it will be a short week!

Congratulations Nina. This is the beginning of another really exciting time in your life. Mary, you're a terrific mom!!!! ((Hugs)) to you my friend. I'll brew a nice pot of Early Grey so you can sit back, put your feet up and rest for a while. You've earned it!!!

It didn't sink in until the Sunday afterward for me. It took a few days. And you know what? I usually get done a week or 2 before my brothers do, and start back the week after they do. So, when they're still getting up at 6:30am, I am sleeping in until 10 or 11 and LOVING IT! I can imagine how Nina feels, because she's been getting up at 5:45am for like 7 years, and she feels she deserves some much needed rest! I can't blame her. :)

I will say, I remember my last day. They wouldn't let seniors back in the building the day everyone else was finishing finals. We'd had senior breakfast that morning, so when that concluded at 10am, everyone got to go home. I later got a phone call to drop some stuff off for my sister. So, I went back for a few minutes, and then rode around the streets of Florence. It was very eerie, because I would normally be in school, so I didn't ever see what went on during the day. It was weird being out of school at 12 noon.

Karan - thanks for the tea! I need it!!! Been really drooping lately and need to still put this house back to order. It's clean still, that part's easy, all the party stuff is out yet. Didn't want to take down the decorations too early, Nina is home and it wouldn't feel right to do that. Jeremy, I think I know what you mean. That first day when you were officially finished with classes probably felt like playing hookey. I think it feels like limbo. In my case, it's a lost feeling. The Mom-tears started today, as I was half intending to right the order around here. Not really sad but not ready to close that door on Nina's childhood either. When I finished crying I finally decided why I needed that good cry - I love(d) being a mom! And staying home with my kids. That could have been a big regret - working and putting them in daycare. I decided to look at the positive things I felt - being able and priviledged to stay home, so what if our vacations were not fancy or our cars are not new anymore. I was here for my girls. So after that long cry, I felt really good about the next phase my daughter is entering. She's ready and so I will be too. I knew I'd cry but I just didn't know when it would really hit. Today it did - big time! Thanks again for being my wonderful, supportive online family - you're the best! Another thing, before I wrapped this up and it stopped my tears - one worry I had was my cancer would not be caught early and I wouldn't live to see my kids graduate. That in itself was something to be really grateful for. And I finally gave myself a stern talking to - I have so much to be grateful for! Thanks again all...
