This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

30-40% chance of rain?

#1 Postby melhow » Thu Jun 09, 2005 9:24 am

hmmmmm...

The weekend forecast (weather.com) for the Tampa/St. Pete area is calling for a 30-40% rain chance Friday through Sunday...

Does that sound right? If the rain/winds extend 150 miles east of the center of Arlene, shouldn't that forecast read, like, 90%?

Just wondering...

They need to hike the rains chances up for Tampa for the weekend at 80-90%. It doesn't make sense that Miami would have higher rain chances. Usually weather.com is conservative and are not taking this system into account yet.

Well, we're in the center of the cone and we have "only" a 60% chance for Friday night and 70% for Saturday. Of course, they also mention winds of 40 to 45 mph, and gusts to 60. :(
