Aunt needs prayers this Monday...

#1 Postby therock1811 » Sat Jun 25, 2005 5:59 pm

I just found out my aunt Kathy is having a colonoscopy done on Monday. I think it's routine but don't know, she's like 41 or so. Anyway, if you all would pray for her I'd appreciate it as would she. Thanks.

Well, Jeremy you ~I~ will certainly pray nothing is found and if so, they are benign polyps. For what it's worth, my first colonoscopy was at the same age, 41 and I had 2 benign growths. I was told not to come back for 3 more years. Sigh, but now you know how that turned out.

At least she IS getting one - that's a comfort.

Please tell her the prep is the worst part and not to worry at all about the actual procedure. She will be sedated and won't feel a thing. Most people worry so much about one but don't realize until it's over, they were worried for nothing! I was shaking something awful for my first one.

She is in my prayers Jeremy! Miss Mary is right, the prep is the worst part of the whole procedure. I had my first one when I was 41 as well.

Jeremy I had one last fall. They give the patient 2 drugs. One is usually a coedine type drug to ease discomfort..the other is a powerful tranquilizer such as Versed. The combined effect of these 2 drugs is to put the patient in la la land. She wont remember a thing I promise. Hope everything turns out ok.

I have also been through several of these. I will definitely put her on my prayer list.

I had to go through the process when I was 44, w/o extra meds (contraindicated by the Rx I was already taking).

Thankfully, nothing out-of-the-ordinary was discovered, BUT...I wouldn't recommend it w/o the meds, if you can have them. :(
