Dry air in Texas

will keep td3 from being a hurricane in my opinion. I now am sold on the n central coast of the GOM as a landfall. But that dry air in Texas gets entrained into it, well it could put the kabosh on any more development. Just my opinion. Comments welcomed. :)

I am not sure. It looks like the surge has stopped and now moving back inland. It still could very well impact Texas. Just wait until tonight when there is a lot more information available after the recon is finished.

NHC mentioned this in the 11 p.m. discussion last night so yes this seems very possible.

I agree, if the dry air gets caught up in this system like it did with Arlene, she's in for a struggle. The dry air might by modifying slightly, but still looks like a factor.

Certainly has happened before... Seen strong storms coming right up the gulf with a bead on the MS River and then turn quickly into nothing more than wispy clouds at landfall. Dry air is definitely a cane killer!
