This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

night and day difference in it's shape and convection..... my quesiton is why aren't the winds ramping up with the pressure falling? It doesn't make any sense. The storm "looks" major on sat but they still can't find major winds.

Give it time, with a pressure around 960 it wont be far from major status in a couple of hours.

I'm in a bit of hard place right now...... this morning I took my gas cans, chainsaw, etc to my folks in Alabama (they live about 20 miles north of the coast) and now the damn storm may be headed more westerly. I guess they can bring everything back this way after the storm if needed.

The eye looks really tight on radar with heavy convection wrapped all around it.The convection has now evened out on both the east and west side of the storm.Doubt it's still 100mph.

At this point recon has not found anything to support more than 100 mph...yet. However, they are in there now and we should get more Vortex messages soon, and that could very well change.

Keep checking the recon thread.

The winds will catch up... I've seen this before. Pressure always drops first.

agreed, this does NOT look like a category 2 storm anymore, the IR has improved immensely, and the eye is getting more and more defined with a good CDO....

I would say that at anytime now recon could find this to be a category 3 storm
