EXPERIMENTAL HURRICANE FORECAST
TROPICAL DEPRESSION #7
NJN WEATHER CENTER
620 PM SAT JULY 23RD 2005

Tropical Depression #7 was born at 5pm on Saturday and should become Tropical Storm Gert before landfall sometime during the day on Sunday.

#7 formed in the BOC in almost the exact area where Emily crossed about a week ago. While this will be nowhere near Emily's size.. the rain could be tremendous especially in areas that were left flooded or well saturated by Emily.

This is expected to be no more imho then a 45 mph maybe 50 tropical storm, so wind will obviously not be the main threat. Those in the areas already flooded need to be prepared to move to higher ground if need be.

The storm should die out as quickly as it formed once it makes landfall.

Here's my experimental 5 day forecast on #7:
Tonight: Forming in the BOC, getting a little better organized. Max Winds: 35 mph
Sunday: Becoming a TS before landfall in central Mexico. Max Winds: 45
mph
Monday: Quickly weakening and becoming extratropical. Max winds: 35 mph
Tuesday: Into the center of Mexico. Max Winds: 20 mph
Wednesday: Inlfuencing rain chances in Western Mexico. Max Winds: 15 mph
Thursday: Possibly exiting into the Pacific. Max Winds: 15 mph
