Prayer request

#1 Postby timNms » Tue Jul 26, 2005 8:23 pm

As many of you know, once upon a time, I was a teacher. Unfortunately, I had some health problems and personal problems a couple of years ago and resigned from my teaching job. I felt that I was not doing what was best for the students so I turned the job over to someone else. I've been working in retail management since last July.

For the last few months, there has been a gnawing feeling in my stomach that I need to return to teaching. I miss it so much! Every time I see a kid come into the store, I'm reminded just how much I loved teaching.

For as long as I can remember, I had always wanted to be a teacher. (with the exception of the year that I was in first grade...I cried every day :D )

Guess I got a little sidetracked over the last 2 years. But now, I'm making an effort to return to the profession that I love. I have been on 3 interviews at 3 different schools. I am asking that you ladies and gentlemen pray that I will get one of the positions that I've applied for. Not only would I be doing what I love to do, it would make life easier at my house. My wife and I were both working as retail managers during this summer and our 11 yr old son has spent very little time with us. I feel like we've thrown him away! If I can return to the classroom, I'll be home shortly after he gets home each day and I'll be with him on weekends and holidays. He won't have to be shipped off to my mom's or my in-laws. Also, I won't have to miss any of his little league baseball games next season because of my work.

Thanks for your prayers!

Some people are meant to be teachers....and whether you do it professionally or just in going about your business each day, I'm sure there are those young people and old alike who learn from what you do and who you are.

Teaching is one of the most noble of professions for those who recognize the power of a good education. You seem surely to be one of those. I applaud your desire to go back.

I began my post-college years as a teacher for a decade from the late 60's to late 70's including some teaching time at a little elementary school in Nha Trang, South Vietnam while I was there in 1970. I will never forget that experience.

After getting out of education in the late 70's, I continued volunteering in classrooms on the topic of weather....and as late as three years ago, I was a tutor for some kids with learning disabilities right here in Phoenix.

I love being around those whose minds are not cluttered with hatred or anger or distrust....and can see the world for its potential, not its limitation.

I am pulling for you to get back in the classroom. A teacher who follows his heart into that room will be a successful one for sure.

One more note...this coming weekend, six of my former sixth grade students have invited me to come visit them while they celebrate their 40th birthdays together here in Phoenix. I have watched them grow over the years, and am so proud of all of them.

Obviously, I must have struck a nerve with them as well for them to invite my wife and me to come wish them a happy 40th!

Good luck Tim!

Prayers that God's will be done for you and your family in this situation are coming from W. Houston. I was wondering when you were going to head back into the place you belong. It was alway obvious to me that is where you are meant to be.

Thanks, VB. I've always known that's where I belong, but went thru some family probs and other stuff and had a hard time dealing with all of it at once....but I'm trying to get back where I belong :)
