Western Atlantic Tropical Summary - WATS UP on August 23, 2005

The tale of two halves.
The eastern half of this WV image shows out lil' devil dominating the
region. He's making life for a wave approaching the islands very tough.
The western half of this WV image shows lots of moisture, particularly
near the Bahamas. The remnants of TD10 are slowly getting better
organized as they move west Northwest. RECON is scheduled to
investigate this area today. The ULL to the north of the TD10R is
providing some ventilation for the system. The strong ridge over the
Southeast US should guide TD10R into the GOM in the next couple of
days.
That's where thing get interesting. Several global models develop this
into a significant tropical cyclone in the GOM by the end of the week.
They've been doing that consistently, which warrants us watching this
system for development. Stay tuned!
A tropical wave is approaching central America, and will not develop.
